Starting Your Journey with Admissions at Banbury Lodge
Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming. You might feel unsure about what to say, what happens after the call, or whether residential treatment is even the right step. That uncertainty is normal.
At Banbury Lodge, our admissions team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can speak to us in complete confidence, whether you’re calling about yourself, a partner, a parent, a child, or a friend and know that you are in the right hands. There is no obligation or pressure, just a straightforward conversation about what support and help look like.
You do not need to have everything worked out before you call. You just need to start the conversation.
Three simple steps to starting treatment
Taking the first step toward treatment can feel daunting, but the process at Banbury Lodge is designed to be calm, clear and supportive from the very beginning. In many cases, admission can be arranged within a short timeframe, subject to assessment and availability, so help can begin when it is most needed.
When someone reaches a point of readiness, timing matters. Motivation can shift quickly, and delays often make the decision harder. That is why our admissions process is designed to move at a steady, considered pace without unnecessary complexity.
1 – Speak with our admissions team
Your first call is simply a conversation. A member of our admissions team will listen to what has been happening, answer your questions and explain what treatment at Banbury Lodge can involve.
There is no judgement, no pressure and no obligation to make a decision on the call. Many people phone us feeling anxious, emotional or unsure. That is normal. We will meet you where you are.
You can call for yourself or on behalf of someone you care about. Either way, we will help you understand the next step.
2 – Understand your treatment options
If treatment feels like the right next step, we will ask some questions about your substance use, your health, your medical history and your current situation. This helps us understand what level of support may be needed and whether detox should form part of your rehabilitation programme.
We will also talk through your goals, any immediate risks, the most suitable treatment pathway, likely length of stay, fees and funding options. If you have private medical insurance with Bupa or AXA, we can discuss this with you at this stage.
The purpose of this conversation is to make sure Banbury Lodge is clinically appropriate and that you understand what treatment would involve before making any decision.
3 – Arrive safely at Banbury Lodge
Once we have confirmed that Banbury Lodge is suitable and a place is available, we will explain the programme, fees, terms and what to bring with you.
A deposit will secure your place, with the remaining balance payable on arrival. Everything will be confirmed clearly in writing, so you know exactly what to expect before you come in.
Arriving for treatment is a big step, and we understand that the first day can feel emotional. When you arrive, you will be welcomed by our team, shown around the clinic and introduced to the people who will be supporting you.
The focus on your first day is to simply help you settle in, feel safe and begin the process of stabilising.
How quickly can treatment begin?
Admission is often possible within 24 – 48 hours of first contact, depending on clinical assessment and availability.
If you or someone you care about is ready to accept help, we would encourage you to call as soon as possible. Waiting for the “perfect time” can make things harder. If there is a window of willingness, it is important to act while that window is open.
If you are worried about someone’s immediate safety, please call us straight away. We will help you understand the safest and most appropriate next step.
What should I bring with me?
Once your admission is confirmed, our team will give you a clear packing list. This usually includes comfortable clothing, personal items, any prescribed medication in its original packaging, and relevant documents.
You do not need to worry about getting everything perfect. Our admissions team will talk you through what is needed and answer any practical questions before you arrive, and until then you can read our guide on everything you need to know about your stay with us.
Supporting someone you love
Many people who call us are not calling for themselves. They are calling because they are frightened for someone they love.
You may be dealing with broken promises, secrecy, relapse, arguments, denial, or a growing concern that things are deteriorating. It is also common to feel emotionally drained from trying to support someone through it all. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone in it.
You can call us even if your loved one is not ready to speak to us yet. Our admissions team can help you understand the treatment options, how to approach the conversation, what signs to look out for, and what you can do next.
You do not have to manage this on your own. A confidential conversation can help you find a clearer way forward.
